THE CONFERENCE OF PALMA DE MALLORCA DEALS WITH THE BIG ISSUES ON THE FUTURE OF THE WHOLESALE MARKETS
The Conference of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) was held in Palma de Mallorca from 14 th – 17 th September 2010. It opened the big issues on the future of Wholesale Markets was subject to discussion and debate through the participation of 40 speakers and panelists, distributed among the five working session of the Conference program, under the theme “A global supply to meet demands of all kind”. The main discussions focused on the need to define the answer of the wholesale market to the new international economic scene, to assume the environmental management as a social responsibility and a business opportunity, as well as to see the possible contribution of wholesale markets to consumer healthy habits as an important challenge. Along these matters, the Conference also approached the reality of the retail municipal markets which are a fundamental piece in the commercial urbanism of the cities and distribution of fresh food. The organizers of the conference, Mercasa and Mercapalma, consider the results achieved as very positive express its gratefulness for the high participation with more than 200 professionals, managers and institutional responsible wholesale markets from 30 countries.
