Guided tour to La Granja de Esporles.

09:00: Delegates departure from Hotel Meliá Palas Atenea
10:00: Guided tour to La Granja de Esporles

Esporles, a Garden of Eden in the heart of Majorca, in the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range.

La Granja is a former mansion set in a fantastic area akin to rural Mallorca: exuberant vegetation, beautiful gardens, water springs, fruit trees, oak forests, mountains and animals. Within this cinematographic mansion lies the best ethnological museum on the island detailing agrarian Balearic tradition. This is a visit that mixes gastronomy, crafts and folklore. The origin of the mansion is mentioned in Roman epoch. Though a farm, it boasts the luxury of a palace. Delegates will visit the mansion salons, bedrooms, court rooms, terraces and even a torture chamber.

Don’t miss trying some typical Majorcan products such as jam, sobrasada, and bread of fig or muscatel while there. Visitors can also walk through the botanical gardens, abundant with waterfalls and trees that experts say may be aged between 1000 and 2000 years old.

The visit to La Granja de Esporles includes:

  • Tour around La Granja mansion – viewing 3000 m2 of architecture from the X to XX century.
  • Tour of the botanical gardens, 20.000 m2 boasting fountains, 1.000 year old trees, and a wide variety of flowers and plants.
  • Viewing of a great variety of birds and domestic/wild animals.
  • Tasting typical specialities from Mallorca: jams, cheeses, fig bread, sobrasada, buñuelos, muscatel, etc.
  • Demonstration of ancient office machinery.
  •

    12:30 Transfer to Agro-tourism (Rural Hotel) S’Olivaret
    13:00 – 13:30 Agro-tourism visit

At the other end of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range lies one of the most fascinating places that Mallorca has to offer: Agroturismo S'Olivaret. This place has witnessed the ages, from the Muslim invasion through to present day, epics that have marked the history of the island of Mallorca. S'Olivaret brings together history and tradition with comfort, with a lunch offering you will never forget. This modern cuisine is based on traditional knowledge and a Mediterranean style kitchen using natural products from the market. This is a natural and comfortable environment in the heart of Mallorca.
